Clairvoyance, based on a 17th Century term that means clear vision, is a type of ESP - Extra Sensory Perception. Although usually used to describe a number of psychic abilities, such as second sight, telepathy, prophetic thoughts and psychic dreams, it is strictly speaking the power to discern details about a person, object, place or event by means of perception other than with the usual five feelings. A person gifted with this particular ability is called a clairvoyant - a person who sees clearly.
In parapsychology, the term clairvoyance is used purely to spell it out information - in the the present time and not really readily accessible to the actual clairvoyant - caused by an external source, instead of telepathy, where information is transferred from one mind to a new. In other words, a email has the ability to see or visualise events, objects or persons away from capability or range of physical sight.
Remote control viewing, usually a managed, specific process, can be a facet of astro voyance, as is clairvoyant dreaming. For instance, a person may dream about a location they have never seen before and then find it is exactly because they had visualised it inside their dream.
This became of me, for example, once i was about to start my personal first term at college. As I had never been to the city where the university was located, my Father offered to take myself there in order to find the way in which from the train station to the college. Having imagined about it the night before we went, I used to be able to lead him to the faculty along the shortest path possible, knowing exactly where and when to turn. I used to be even able to simply tell him how long it would get us to get presently there.
However, outside of the industry of parapsychology the term is generally used to describe other kinds of paranormal, or anomalous, perception. Most of the time, it is used in relation to the perception of past (retro cognition) or future (precognition) events. This can be a gift many possess without even realising this. To use another personal expertise as an example (and I don't claim to be a clairvoyant in any way), a few years ago, a friend's daughter had gone into hospital early in the evening to have her first child. Although with a group of shared friends around 10 PM, someone suggested we should phone the hospital and find out exactly how she was getting on. As one of them picked up the phone, I introduced that a call would be wasted, as she had have a little boy in early hours of the pursuing morning. We known as anyway and informed she was asleep as the labour acquired slowed. My friend informed me the next morning which her grandson came to be at 5:30 AM.
Frequently, mediums will also refer to the perception of images identified during communication together with spirits as clairvoyance.
In any case, clairvoyance is a precious gift which can and should be used in order to help as well as guide others.
